Talk. Listen. Connect.

Overview

TLC: Talk. Listen. Connect. is a unique program for parents under the age of 21 that provides information about child development with a focus on language and communication skills. Through TLC, Leap Professional Development Coaches teach Leap Language Techniques, and help young mothers and fathers better understand how to engage their babies in ways that will stimulate and grow their language development.

As babies grow, their brains develop with each interaction experienced within their environment. How can parents’ communication foster babies’ development? How does a child communicate at 0-12 months, 1-2 years, and 2-3 years? Leap Coaches teach young parents skills to improve their baby’s language abilities and give them a step up when they reach their schooling years.

Workshops will focus on:

  • Understanding how a child’s language develops
  • Stressing the importance of reading to children from an early age
  • Choosing toys that promote learning
  • Documenting child’s history by building a memory book/baby journal

How It Works

TLC is a series of 4 one hour workshops over 4 weeks. Workshops include themed lessons and extension activities.
